Welcome to your Bushwick oasis.

A little music. A little Brooklyn. Make yourself at home.

Street door

Your host shares the door code privately. Do not press the inside latch button upstairs.

Need a hand?

Alana is your host's friend on the first floor. Text her if you need anything.

About Alana & contacts

Do not

  • Do not press the inside latch button on the apartment door.
  • Do not walk to the Brooklyn Mirage. Take a car.
  • No drinks on the piano or the speakers.
  • Projector off when you leave. No loud music 4–5 a.m.

01 — Arrival

Street, elevator, fobs.

Your host will share arrival details privately. If anything about the door or the fobs is unclear, text rather than test.

Entry photograph
  1. 01

    Street door

Type the code on the keypad, then #. Your host shares any other entry details privately.

  2. 02

    Elevator, then fobs

Please follow your host’s confirmed arrival directions.

Your host will walk you through the entry hardware and how visitors get buzzed in.

Not sure which button does what on the intercom? Ask your host rather than guessing.

Arriving late? Ask your host how after-hours entry works.

  3. 03

    Inside latch — leave it

Do not press the button on the inside of the apartment lock. If the door is not behaving as expected, stop and reach your host through your booking conversation rather than testing it.

02 — The suite

Shower, lights, AC, the bed.

Your host is still walking us through the shower, the light switches and the AC. What is confirmed is here; anything still pending says so.

Bath photograph

Shower

How the water works

  1. Filtered, many settings. Your host says the shower head is filtered and has several settings. If a setting resists, leave it and text rather than forcing it.
  2. Temperature first. Check it before stepping in.
  3. Never force a setting. If a head or switch resists, leave it and text your host.
  4. Sink. Your host reports the sink handle can loosen. If it feels loose or comes away, stop and text your host rather than forcing it.

Bathroom lights

What is what

The switch plate inside the bath door is not labelled. Try the switches one at a time, or ask your host which is which.

Mirror. Your host says another full-length mirror sits by the mural on the right. Confirm the spot when you are there.

Blinds. Blinds: ask your host for the up-and-down trick.

Roof. Roof access is pending host confirmation. Please ask before going up.

Air conditioning

Leave it running

  • Bedroom. The bedroom has an LG window unit. Your host prefers you leave it on when you head out. Use its remote; we do not publish a setpoint or schedule.
  • Chargers. Phone chargers are around the apartment — ask your host where they live.
  • Something off? Text your host before adjusting anything you cannot put back.

The bed

How to sleep here

  • Extra sheets are available. Ask your host where they are kept.
  • Sofa bed. The fold-out couch mattress fit is still being checked. Do not force it closed. Ask your host before using it as a bed.
  • Bedroom TV has its own Apple TV. Please do not sign out of any account or reset the box.

03 — The house, on the wall

Projector, Dragon, Apple TVs.

Two Apple TVs, as your host describes them: living room on the projector, bedroom on its own TV. Equipment names below are host-reported. Leave signed-in accounts as you find them.

Living room

The projector

An Epson LS11000 4K laser projector on a 120-inch screen, fed by the Apple TV 4K. Please turn the projector off every time you leave the apartment.

There is a video doorbell at the apartment door, separate from the downstairs intercom. Your host says it sometimes appears on the projector; treat that as pending. Leave cables and inputs as you find them.

Sound

Nakamichi Dragon

Your host describes the living-room sound as a Nakamichi Dragon, with an Apple TV 4K on the Epson LS11000 projector. Mode names below are your host’s words — not a promise of a particular surround format.

Your host’s preferred seat is the one all the way to the left.

Nothing on top of the speakers, and no loud music between 4 and 5 a.m.

Apple TVs

Two rooms

One Apple TV on the living-room projector, one on the bedroom TV. From an iPhone: Control Center → Screen Mirroring → pick the room.

Some lights may answer the Apple TV remote. Your host will say which ones — we do not publish a lighting map. Please do not sign out of any account or “Reset” either box.

Sound modes

Pick the mode for the moment

  • Surround · Movie

Films and anything with a score, as your host describes it.

Ask your host before treating this as guaranteed Atmos.

  • Studio · Music

Records, as your host describes it.

A wide stereo stage; leave settings you cannot put back.

  • 4-point

Even volume across the room, as your host describes it.

Ask if you cannot find this mode.

  • News · Podcast

Voices, as your host describes it.

Centre channel forward, everything else quieter.

Quiet scenes can stay quiet. Ask before changing sound settings you cannot put back.

Jets game

For a Jets game, ask your host which app is signed in on the Apple TV. Audio format depends on the broadcast and the app that night.

White speakers · WiiM

Your host also mentions white speakers on a WiiM streamer through a Yamaha mixer. If you use them, AirPlay or the WiiM Home app, and leave mixer knobs where they are.

  • Starlink

    Wi-Fi

    Starlink

Starlink. Your host shares the Wi-Fi password privately.

  • Apple TV

  • PayRange

    Laundry

Downstairs laundry · your own phone

The downstairs machines take PayRange, on your own phone. Install it while you are connected; your host can point you to the room and the prices.

  • Level Home

    Door lock

Apartment door · your own phone

The apartment door uses a Level lock. Install Level Home; your host sends any invitation privately. An app download is not a key. Never press the inside latch button. If the door misbehaves, stop and use your booking conversation.

  • Video intercom

    Doorphone

Older video phone · model not yet identified

An older video intercom downstairs. Ask your host before using its buttons.

No app or remote unlock is configured.

04 — Around the house

Everyday essentials.

The house rules below come straight from your host. Downstairs laundry uses PayRange.

House rules

Six things your host asks

  • No drinks on the piano. It is a walnut baby grand and it matters to your host.
  • No drinks on the speakers. Nothing on top of them, please.
  • Turn the projector off before you leave. Every time you head out.
  • No loud music between 4 and 5 a.m. That exact hour is the one the building asks for.
  • Do not press the inside latch button on the apartment door. If the door misbehaves, stop and text your host.
  • Do not walk to the Brooklyn Mirage. Take a car if you are going that way.

Make yourself at home

What is here for you

  • Extra sheets. Available — ask your host where they are kept.
  • Toothbrushes & toothpaste. Provided. Ask if you need more.
  • Board games. Available — ask your host where to find them.
  • Giant pink pillow. Under the piano. Bring it out for extra lounge seating; keep walkways clear and mind the piano.
  • Visitors. Welcome. Please check with your host about numbers and overnight guests.

The piano

Walnut baby grand

A walnut baby grand. Your host describes it as a Sohmer & Co. from around 1950; that nameplate is not confirmed here. It is the heart of the room — no drinks on it.

Please do not put anything inside the piano. If you need a place for belongings while you are out, ask your host.

The loft

Where you are

A Bushwick artist loft. Building names, dates and neighboring-lot stories are still being checked — we are not publishing them as fact.

If you hear footsteps overhead, it may be the roof. Access is not confirmed here. Ask your host before going up; do not treat the sound as a structural all-clear.

Trash & recycling

Where it goes

Ask your host where trash and recycling go in this building. Until then, keep bags tied inside the apartment.

Laundry

In the building

Downstairs laundry runs on PayRange, on your own phone. Download it before doing laundry. Your host can point you to the room, the prices and the detergent.

There is also a laundromat at the end of the block on Stockholm Street, just before Knickerbocker Avenue.
